Traditional Restoration - Restoring an Older Car or Truck to Like New Condition!
Traditional Restoration is the process of returning a vehicle back to its original showroom floor condition. To the maximum extent possible, this requires either preserving the original parts and restoring their condition or using new original equipment parts or reproduction parts designed to the original manufacturers specification. This requires a maximum effort toward uncovering, referencing, documenting and preserving any and all existing components. The older the car, the more difficult it is to preserve the originality of the antique vehicle, however, we will do our best to ensure we fully restore vehicles to the maximum extent possible.
The images here show the work in progress to restore a Firebird convertible that is more than five decades old back to like new condition. People take pride in bringing their cars to us to be restored back to their original pristine condition.
Of course, the last thing that we installed was the front end, however, in the image above, you can see that the engine, now rebuilt and installed, looks just like it did back in the late 60's. Some people prefer to modernize their vehicles. That is referred to as Restomod and we have a page on our site to show how we do that, as well. Be sure to click on the menu to see that page.
When some cars are being restored for rare and collector car auctions, the level of preservation of the originality of the vehicle can result in higher bids by those who are looking for precise restorations. The older the car is, as well as the make and model of the car, can impact the ability to replace aged parts with historical accuracy. We do our best to find replacement parts that are either originals secured from the manufacturer, aftermarket suppliers that provide original equipment specification replacement parts or, when necessary, such as when restoring British sports cars where the manufacturers went out of business more than four decades ago, we restore parts obtained from cars that we have on site. The key is to make the cars look new again, inside and out, under the hood and under the carriage.
